Abstract
La leche materna es un alimento de alto valor biológico que promueve un crecimiento y desarrollo adecuado de los niños. Objetivo: Estimar la relación que existe entre los meses de duración de lactancia materna y el puntaje Z del indicador talla para la edad en niños y niñas de 2 a 5 años que asisten a la Institución Educativa (I.E) “María Inmaculada” del distrito de San Borja, Lima-Perú 2016. Método: Estudio no experimental, correlacional, y prospectivo. Muestra: se estudió 106 niños entre los meses de marzo a junio del 2016 y se realizaron mediciones de peso, estatura, perímetro cefálico, determinación de índice de masa corporal, con equipos calibrados y personal estandarizado. Resultados: Existe correlación directa y significativa entre meses de duración de lactancia materna y puntaje z score del indicador talla para la edad. (r= 0,655, p= 0.000). Conclusión: Existe relación directa y significativa entre la duración de lactancia materna y el crecimiento físico en los niños y niñas de 2 a 5 años es adecuado.
Breast milk is a food of high biological value that promotes the proper growth and development of children. Objective: To estimate the relationship between the months of duration of breastfeeding and the Z score of the height-for-age indicator in children aged 2 to 5 years attending the Educational Institution (IE) "María Inmaculada" of the district of San Borja, Lima-Perú 2016.
