Abstract
Technological changes can affect the lifestyle of schoolchildren, favoring a sedentary lifestyle, and inappropriate eating practices. The objective of this study is to determine the influence of the educational level of parents, healthy eating and physical activity on the nutritional status of 5th and 6th grade primary school students from a particular educational institution in Comas. The study is quantitative, applied, descriptive-correlational, non-experimental, crosssectional, multivariate causal design. A data collection sheet was applied to determine the educational level of the parents, also a physical activity questionnaire, a healthy eating questionnaire, and an anthropometric evaluation was carried out in fifty-three students. Consequently, from a descriptive analysis of the data collected, it was found that 66% are overweight/obese. Also, the healthy eating index score showed that 80% were in the categories “needs change” and “unhealthy”. In addition, the level of physical activity indicated that 75.5% of the schoolchildren have a sedentary level. Likewise, the educational level of the parents indicates that the majority is “secondary”. Finally, a binary logistic regression (RLB) analysis was performed to contrast the study hypotheses, and it was partially confirmed that there is a relationship between the variables. However, no correlation was found between nutritional status and healthy eating, nor between nutritional status, healthy eating and physical activity with the educational level of the parents.
