Abstract
Objetivo: Demostrar que los buenos hábitos de consumo de frutas y verduras están relacionados con el estado nutricional de adolescentes, entre los 12 y 14 años de edad, que acuden a un centro educativo el distrito de Comas. Población, material y métodos: Estudio tipo cualicuantitativo, observacional y transversal cuya muestra fue de 108 adolescentes que cursaban el segundo año de secundaria y a quiénes se les realizó la medida de circunferencia de cintura, peso y talla y aplicación de una encuesta de hábitos de consumo de frutas y verduras. Resultados: El 57.4% de los adolescentes evaluados presentó un consumo insuficiente de frutas y verduras reportándose una ingesta promedio de 233.6 g/día de estos alimentos. Se observó una prevalencia de sobrepeso de 28.57% y obesidad 23.1%. Se evidenció un riesgo alto (17.6%) y riesgo muy alto (10.2%) de padecer enfermedad cardiometabólica en la población estudiada. Conclusión: Con un valor p =0.042 se afirma que la ingesta de frutas y verduras es insuficiente promoviendo el sobrepeso y obesidad en escolares adolescentes, de 12 a 14 años de edad, de la I.E.E Estados Unidos del distrito de Comas. Más de la mitad de la población presenta IMC de sobrepeso y obesidad respectivamente y casi un 30% podría padecer enfermedades cardiometabólicas, según el indicador de medida de cintura.
