Abstract
This research aimed to design a program as a proposal for the development of phonological awareness in infants of the initial primary level. The study is framed in the constructivist cognitive approach and social interrelation of Piaget, Vygotsky and Ausubel, where previous knowledge is vital in the acquisition of new knowledge. It was based on secondary bibliographic sources, as well as interactive educational routines with sounds, songs, tongue twisters and riddles within an audiovisual educational support. The cognitive program proposes 4 modules corresponding to the degree of development of initial reading skills such as: lexical, syllabic, intrasyllabic and phonemic, for 18 sessions, in a period of 8 weeks; with a playful, interactive, friendly character; complemented with exercises in class.
