Abstract
This thesis, “Art therapy program to improve the social skills of teenage mothers in a group home”, is an educational psychological research, involving 14 residential teenage mothers in a group home. The goal was to analyze and verify how the “HUDI” art therapy program, elaborated by us, influenced the use and management of the mother’s social skills. The implementation of the interventional program was executed in twenty sessions, and it managed to increase the factors of assertive communication, impulse control, frustration tolerance and creativity substantially. There were no significant results in relation to affectivity, which may have been because they were institutionalized teenagers; however, creating preventive and interventional programs using art therapy is an alternative way to help improving the social issues of teenage mothers in hazardous situations.
