El autoconcepto en niños mexicanos y peruanos

Abstract
Se trabajó con una muestra de 67 participantes mexicanos y 100 peruanos de ambos géneros, de 11 a13 años de edad, para hacer una comparación de su estructura mental de autoconcepto, usando elinstrumento de Valdez-Medina (1994), adaptado para la muestra peruana, como se demuestra, con buenosresultados. A través de los análisis factoriales con rotación varimax, se encontraron similitudes en laestructura y contenido del autoconcepto de ambas muestras. De esta forma, se observó que ambas muestrastienden a percibirse como obedientes-afiliativos y respetuosos de las normas. Los resultados permitensuponer que, a reserva de que se pruebe contundemente, entre los mexicanos y los peruanos puede habergrandes coincidencias respecto a la identidad cultural y la cultura en general.
The present study was based on a sample of 67 Mexican and 100 Peruvian participants of both genders,of 11to 13years old, with the purpose of comparing their mental structure of the self-concept. The self-conceptquestionnaire ofValdez-Medina (1994) was used, adpating it for the Peruvian sample, which demonstratedgood results. By means of factor analysis with varimax rotation, similitudes in the structure and the contentof the self-concept ofboth samples were found. Thus, it was ratified that the Mexican and Peruvian participantstend to perceive themselves as more obedient-affiliative and respectful of norms. These results indicate, thatbetween Mexican and Peruvian there are sorne cultural aspects that tend to be the same or very similar.
