Abstract
The teacher is the first factor of efficiency to achieve the educational quality so desired at the different levels of the formative stage. This ideal translates into a teaching practice that is efficient in all pedagogical processes, especially in the awareness of the development and achievement of learning competencies. From this reflective line, a case study was carried out in two denominational universities with wide recognition and trajectory in the Peruvian educational reality. Thus, the objective of the study was to understand and contrast the common and distinctive features on the conceptions of formative evaluation of teachers in the contexts involved. The naturalistic interpretative paradigm was applied, which made it possible to recognize the emerging categories through interviews applied to a sample of eight teachers. For the selection of the informants, sample inclusion criteria were defined to ensure their professional level in the educational field and their experience in university teaching. Thus, it was found that all teachers showed willingness to reflect on their evaluation practice, recognizing its meaning and purpose; however, not all of them are able to translate this awareness into effective actions due to intrinsic factors related to the overload of teaching work by more administrative operational actions that result in limited time to attend to students when they require feedback to continue advancing in the development of their competencies.
