Abstract
Objective: to determine the influence of fast food centers in the nutritional state of students between seven and eleven years old. Methodology: Descriptive study, prospective, transversal and comparative. 350 students were evaluated in the I.E (educational institution) 1059 María Inmaculada and I.E. Meliton Carvajal. Results: both educational institutions presented a high overweight and obesity prevalence (MI=43%), MC=33%), sedentary (MI=67%, MC=89%), non-healthy lunchbox consumption (MI=60%, MC=72%), exposure to fast food centers (MI=37%, MC=23%), both parents with overweight and obesity (MI=66%, MC=73%). Students from I.E. 1059 Maria Inmaculada with a scale higher than four points in assistance to fast food centers close to this institution, present 2.5 times greater risk of suffering from overweight or obesity. If this factor is changed, the prevalence of this condition would change 5.9%. Conclusion: the overexposure to fast food centers close to educational institutions is a determinant factor in the presence of overweight and obesity on students
