Abstract
This research focuses its objectives in verifying the significant difference between immediate auditory memory and reading processes. The research design is correlational, the same which was held at a State Education Institution, in the Cercado de Lima. The research sample consisted of 100 students selected from 5th grade, whose parents are mostly temporary trade workers. For this research the Immediate Auditory Memory Test and the PROLEC-R Test were applied. In the research the corresponding hypotheses were made reaching the following conclusions: The research indicates that the Immediate Auditory Memory isn’t related with the Reading Processes in fifth graders at the Primary State Educational Institution in the Cercado de Lima. Likewise, a statistically significant correlation between immediate auditory memory and some tasks of the reading processes was found, such as: grammatical structures, punctuation and sentences comprehension in the fifth grade students at the Primary State Educational Institution in the Cercado de Lima. Finally, it was found that there is no statistically significant correlation between immediate auditory memory and some tasks of reading processes such as: name or sound letters, the same or different words, reading words or pseudo-words, written texts comprehension and oral comprehension in the fifth grade students at the Primary State Educational Institution in the Cercado de Lima. The results were discussed from the perspective of the model which is the theoretical framework of this research. In addition, recommendation for the further study were established.
